About Our Pastor
Rev. Jay Nesselroad was appointed to Wesley UMC July 1, 2008, following six years as pastor of a two-point charge in the Foothills District. He was commissioned as a Provisional Elder during the West Ohio Annual Conference at Lakeside, June 2008.
One of Jay’s favorite t-shirts reads “Dangerously Overeducated” which aptly describes his background. He received his Master of Divinity from United Theological Seminary. He also holds an MBA in Management Information Systems and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, both from Miami University. In his “previous life” Jay was a Systems Administrator working for businesses ranging from a small business to a Fortune 25 company.
Jay met his wife, Phyllis, while both were students at seminary. They were married in November 2007. He is step-dad to Sarah Combs (currently residing in Van Wert); Laura Combs (currently residing in Decatur, IN); and Michael Combs (currently residing in Kettering). Jay’s personal interests are varied, and include (but not limited to!) reading; building and sailing radio-control sailboats; drumming; photography; and amateur astronomy.
Jay is a member of the Order of Saint Luke; the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts; and the American Model Yacht Association.
